Dr. Ben Chongyang Chen is a visiting professor of finance for the 2015-16 school year. Dr. Chen’s academic qualifications include his Ph.D. in finance and MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. He also passed the Chartered Financial Analyst exams and multiple exams from the Society of Actuary including: two Fellowship exams in Advanced Portfolio Management and Advanced Investment Topics Modules, and all associateship exams.
Dr. Chen’s research and expertise are highlighted in his peer reviewed publications, including his paper “Does Financial Constraint Affect Shareholder and the Cost of Equity Capital?” that was published in The Accounting Review, and “Underwriter Reputation and Pricing of Risk: Evidence from Seasoned Equity Offerings” in Review of Quantitive Finance and Accounting.
In the Pacific Lutheran University School of Business, Dr. Chen will be teaching advanced courses in financial analysis and strategy.
Dr. Qin Zhang became an assistant professor in the Pacific Lutheran University School of Business this fall 2015. She has received her Ph.D. and M.S.B.A. in Marketing from Washington University in St. Louis and her B.S. in international finance at Tsinghua University in China.
Dr. Zhang has taught marketing at the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa, the Graduate School of Business at Chonnam National University in Korea, and the School of Management at University of Texas at Dallas. Her teaching interests include the Marketing aspects of Research, Analytics, Management Retail and Social Media.
Dr. Zhang’s research has been published in prestigious journals such as Journal of Retailing, Journal of Market Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Review of Marketing Science. She is the recipient of the Marketing Science Institute Research Award, the Old Gold Fellowship from the University of Iowa, and the AMA-Sheth Doctoral Consortium Fellow from the University of Miami.
In the Pacific Lutheran University School of Business, Dr. Zhang will be teaching undergraduate courses in marketing.
Professor Shiva Nandan’s academic qualifications include his Ph.D. in marketing from University of Texas at Arlington, MBA from University of British Columbia, and M.Sc. and B.Sc. from Gorakhpur University. He has also obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Dr. Nandan has been a marketing professor at AACSB accredited Universities in the United States for almost 20 years and has a proven track of excellence in teaching, scholarship and administrative service. He has taught marketing courses at Missouri Western State University, University of Texas at Arlington, Kennesaw State University, and the International Management Institute in India. He is the founder and president of Nandan Capital Group, LLC.
Dr. Nandan has received awards for scholarship, including Distinguished and Best Paper Awards for three journal articles published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Brand Management and Journal of Consumer Marketing. Dr. Nandan has also authored three Instructor’s Manuals for marketing research texts published by West Publishing Company. His teaching awards include Missouri Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, Regents’ Distinguished Professor Award and Jesse Lee Myers Excellence in Teaching Award. In the classroom, Dr. Nandan successfully incorporates international marketing perspectives into all of his courses. He continues to mentor students to nurture their research abilities and has co-authored journal articles and conference proceedings with them.
